Jalebi is a spiral shaped crunchy and one of the most popular sweets in India. It is considered as the traditional Indian sweet and is mostly served on festivals like Holi, Ramadan, and Diwali. This sweet can be prepared in 30-40 minutes.
Ingredients:
For Jalebi batter –
½ tsp vinegar
½ cup flour/maida
1 tsp corn flour
¼ tsp baking soda
1 tsp curd
5 tbsp water
⅛ tsp turmeric powder (optional)
For Sugar Syrup –
10 pellets of Kaloree1
¼ cup water
¼ tsp saffron strands
1 tbsp ghee
Oil for deep frying
Method:
To prepare sugar syrup –
Take the pellets of Kaloree1 in a pan and add ¼ cup water. Keep stirring it on low flame.
Turn down the flame and add ½ tsp lemon juice.
To prepare Jalebi batter –
Take ½ cup all purpose flour or maida, 1 tsp corn flour, 1 tsp curd in a bowl. Mix them well with a spoon.
Now, add ½ tsp vinegar and 5 – 6 tsp water. Mix well in round circular directions for 4 minutes.
Add ¼ tsp of baking soda and give a gentle mix. You will notice small bubbles on the top.
Now pour the batter into the bottle carefully.
To Fry Jalebis –
Heat oil in a pan and add 1 tbsp of ghee. Simply, squeeze the bottle and make round spirals with the batter.
On partly cooking one side, turn over and fry the other side.
Fry it till the Jalebis turn light golden in color.
Immediately drop the fried Jalebis in the warm sugar syrup.
Dip and turn over the Jalebi so that both sides are coated with the syrup. Take them out and they are ready to be served.
